Sophie LaCroix

Sophie LaCroix is a dreamer, and her imagination creates places and adventures and plans that take her far away from the predictable, frustrating, and sometimes cruel eleven-year-old society in which she lives. But while her dreams sometimes get Sophie in trouble, they lead her to amazing discoveries and realizations that bring her ever closer to God. That's probably because Sophie is her authentic self. She can't be anything else, and even when she tries, it never works out anyway! Sophie LaCroix will take you into twelve of her dream places, and reveal twelve of God's absolute truths as she takes you in and out of those dreams.

Sophie is eleven years old, but if you saw her at school or in the mall you might think she was only eight or nine, because she's a little on the scrawny, underdeveloped side, with a pixie-ish face and elfin hands. There is no bra in her immediate future, and there hasn't been a hairdresser in her immediate past. She has mousy brown hair that reaches her shoulders and has nothing to do with style of any kind; tiny wisps forming an impish frame for her forehead on her own. Sophie's eyes, round like big brown M&M's, draw you in from behind her glasses. Her whisper of a smile often makes people think she's sad or, in the words of the Corn Pops, "a little snot."

But don't YOU be fooled. Sophie is seldom very unhappy, because the possibilities in her life are endless, and the solution to any problem is just a dream away. As for being a snob – think again! Sophie never thinks of herself as better than anyone else. There are no measuring sticks in Sophie's world!
